ACE needs a helping paw.......

Hi, my name is Ace. I'm about 14 years old and I was adopted along with my sister Adele to my first mom Cathy when we were kittens. Two years ago, our Mom Cathy passed away. We were left in our home when she passed, being cared for by our sweet neighbors. When one day they came in to find that Adele had passed away. I was alone. As everyone searched for a new home for me, my Mom Cathy's best friend Dolores, decided to adopt me. She brought me home to be with my new kitty brother Brooklyn (orange cat in pics). I was very very shy at first. Only coming out at night to eat and explore. Brooklyn and I liked each other off the bat, but I was really shy for about 6 months. Around 6 months, I started to hang out from a distance with my new Mom Dolores and my little brother Brooklyn. By the time I was there 9 months, I began sleeping with Mom and Brooklyn every night and Brooklyn and I became best friends. It was the happiest two years of my life! Sadly, my new Mom Dolores passed away last month. Again, I was left alone in the house with my brother Brooklyn, while our neighbor angels fed us. Unfortunately Brooklyn became diabetic and needs daily medication and extra care than just a few visits a day from our neighbor friends. So, Brooklyn was taken to be in a home where he can have that extra care. I'm desperately seeking a new family.

I do well being a single cat but I'd also be a great brother to another kitty. If the kitty loves companionship, I'm their perfect sibling! It will probably take me a while to come out and be open to pets and love. Since this is the second time this has happened to me, I'm not sure if it will be a quicker or longer transition for me. I'm a perfect kitty, I'm handsome and fun once I warm up to you. I don't have a mean bone in my body (ok, I may hiss here and there out of fear of new things, but I hiss and run away to hide). I'm tired of being alone in my house, it's really sad for me. It reminds me of my Mom and my brother and I just want a new family of my own, hopefully for good this time.

My health is good and I'm no problem at all. I'm a perfect sibling or great as an only kitty. I do enjoy all of the attention for myself since Brooklyn is getting medical care. I do like to run into a quiet room, so if you have a downstairs or extra room that I can call my own while I get used to you, that'd be perfect for me. I come with a kitty tree, kitty beds, my favorite toys and support from my God-Mommy Jennifer. I really deserve a new home. I've been a perfect boy for my two moms and just want someone to love me forever this time.

This is why we do rescue!
Just a few short months ago this little lady was abandoned and ended up in a local shelter.  They lovingly took care of her and after several surgeries and lots of TLC we were able to take her into our rescue and found her a perfect new home.
Look at her now on the family Christmas card!
It just doesn't get any better

May you all enjoy this holiday season and know that your support makes these miracles possible everyday for pets in rescue.
Thank you and Happy New Year!

Seniors for Seniors
We're so proud to be part of this amazing program!

Happy News: ELDH is officially launching our Seniors Helping Seniors Project today. Little Pacey is coming from NJ's Happy Tails Rescue to live out his life with Roberta, a retired senior citizen in our community.

What is The Seniors Helping Seniors Project?

The Seniors Helping Seniors Project (SHSP) is part of ELDH and is designed to match at need sanctuary dogs with senior humans in the community who want the companionship of a dog(s) but cannot afford it.

Some dogs want more affection than a pack setting allows or they have certain characteristics that make it difficult for them to be part of the two main sanctuary sites run by ELDH. When presented with this reality, President Victoria Lee thought to reach out to retired seniors in the community who would love to have a dog in their home and act as a “satellite sanctuary location” caring for a dog or two at a time.

The SHSP allows ELDH to increase the number of dogs we save, provides the more needy sanctuary dogs with more attention while bringing the joy of dog companionship and affection into the lives of human seniors in the community who otherwise would not be able to afford a dog of their own. ELDH see’s the SHSP as a win-win-win situation!

We got this great pic from Penny's mom who adopted her almost 10 years ago from Happy Tails, as you can see she is spoiled and loving it.
